The 2025 MDX at a Glance

MDX Overview The Acura MDX has become a leader in the luxury three-row crossover segment because of its excellent value. It offers a winning combination of versatile seven-passenger seating and impressive cargo capacity. Slotting above the two-row, five-passenger Acura RDX in the brand's product range, the MDX provides an accommodating interior and excellent driving dynamics for a vehicle of its size. It also offers a more powerful, enthusiast-oriented Type S that enhances the prestige of the entire lineup in the same way that a BMW M or Mercedes-AMG model does. The Type S Advance, which is the ultimate MDX, is a terrific all-around vehicle with impressive acceleration and handling prowess.

With output ranging from 290 horsepower in the standard engine to 355 hp in the MDX Type S, the Acura stacks up well against competition.

Top marks for safety from both the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and Insurance Institute for Highway Safety mean this isn't just one of the most enjoyable three-row SUVs you can drive, it's also one of the safest.

What is the Interior Like in the 2025 MDX?

To answer your question in simple terms: stunning!
In previous model years, the Acura MDX has been criticized for interiors that are less luxurious than the cabins of their key competitors. But Acura has stepped up its game with the current generation. Its aluminum- and wood-trimmed cabin is attractive and upscale without being over the top. A 12.3-inch digital instrumentation display lends a bold, modern touch and this year a new console design adds functionality. The standard panoramic moonroof gives the interior a bright, open feeling. Occupants in front and back have plenty of headroom and legroom. The under-floor cargo area behind the third row offers generous cargo space. The power tailgate with available hands-free access makes loading and unloading easier.

When it comes to cargo space, the MDX outdoes its rivals. With 18.1 cubic feet behind the third row, the MDX can accommodate seven occupants and their luggage. With the rear seats folded, cargo space expands to a whopping 95 cubic feet.

Additional Interior Options
  • Heated front seats
  • Panoramic moonroof
  • Leather seating
  • Ambient interior lighting
  • Head-up display

It features clear graphics and standard wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration, as well as Google built-in with voice-command functionality. Passengers can use Amazon Alexa to accomplish a range of tasks, from navigation instructions to phone calls, finding podcasts, and more. Additionally, the system includes USB-C and USB-A charging ports and a wireless charging pad. The CabinControl feature, which can be accessed via a downloadable app, lets passengers use their smartphone to control audio, rear climate controls, navigation, and the panoramic moonroof's sunshade.

An 11-speaker audio system is standard in the MDX. An impressive 19-speaker Bang & Olufsen system is also available. The top-dog is a new 31-speaker Bang & Olufsen system in the MDX Type S, which Acura claims is the most powerful audio system it has ever offered. The MDX also has AcuraLink with in-vehicle 4G LTE Wi-Fi.

How does the 2025 MDX Handle on the Road?
The 2025 Acura MDX offers buyers the choice of two powertrains. The standard engine is a 3.5-liter naturally aspirated V6 that delivers 290 horsepower and 267 pound-feet of torque. The Type S swaps in a turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 with 355 hp and 354 lb-ft of torque. Both engines are mated to 10-speed transmissions. The base engine provides more than adequate acceleration as its 6.5-second 0-60-mph time attests. Those who want even more zing out of their three-row SUV will enjoy the turbocharged engine, which allows the MDX to vault from a standstill to 60 mph in about 5.5 seconds.

On the other hand, enthusiasts will enjoy the Type S' all-around performance, including quicker acceleration. Those living in areas where inclement weather can be an issue should strongly consider the all-wheel-drive versions of the MDX. The added traction imparts confidence in almost any driving condition. The MDX combines a smooth, quiet ride with better-than-average handling prowess, a neat trick.

ENGINE        3.5L V6

What Safety Features are Available in the 2025 MDX?

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) gave the 2025 Acura MDX an overall safety rating of five out of five stars, with four stars awarded for frontal crash protection and five stars for side-crash protection. While it hasn't evaluated the 2025 model, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) named the 2024 MDX as a Top Safety Pick+, its highest rating.

All 2025 MDX models are equipped with an impressive roster of AcuraWatch advanced safety and driver-assist technologies. That includes forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, road-departure mitigation, and blind-spot monitoring. The standard traffic jam assist works with adaptive cruise control to keep the vehicle in its lane and at a set interval behind a vehicle ahead. This feature is beneficial in stop-and-go conditions. Traffic sign recognition helps keep the driver abreast of the current speed limit. Rear cross-traffic alert is especially useful in crowded parking lots. The Type S Advance model features an expanded safety and driver assistive package called AcuraWatch 360, which adds active lane change assist, lane change collision mitigation, and front cross traffic warning.
